Midbrain Activation for Kids

What is  MIDBRAIN?

Have you ever heard the ‘Internet’ referred to as the ‘information superhighway’

You might be asking, what does this have to do with the midbrain? Well, the midbrain is the biological equivalent of the Internet; it’s a vital aspect of our neural ‘information superhighway,’which transfers visual and auditory input to the brain and motor (movement) information from the brain. The Midbrain is also called Inter brain and is medically termed as MESENCEPHALON. It is a small region of the brain that serves as a relay centre for Visual, Auditory and Motor system information.

Where is Midbrain located ?

The Mid Brain is located above the brainstem of human beings. It is an area of the brain that, as you might have guessed, is in the middle of two other regions: the forebrain and the hindbrain. The forebrain is the ‘front’ (fore) brain and is composed of the cerebral cortex, the area that most people think of as the ‘brain’; it’s the ‘supercomputer’ of the human body. The hindbrain, or ‘back’ (hind) brain, is composed of the cerebellum and the pons and medulla oblongata (or medulla, for short) of the brainstem; it is evolutionarily the oldest part of our brain, controlling primal instincts and automated actions of the body, such as  heart rate.

Why is Midbrain so important ?

The midbrain, acts most notably as the information superhighway connecting these two regions (forebrain & hindbrain). It enables your brain to integrate sensory information from your eyes and ears with your muscle movements, thereby enabling your body to use this information to make fine adjustments to your movements.

Thus we can say Midbrain has three major functions:

  • It acts as a relay centre between the L/R brain. Major communication between the 2 hemisphere happens through MidBrain.
  • It controls our Five senses i.e. Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic ( Touch), Taste & Smell.
  • It controls attention, alertness, mood, etc.

What is Midbrain Activation and why activate it?

The midbrain has to be awakened by stimulating a hormonal discharge. In order to awaken the midbrain, it is necessary to stimulate the hormonal discharge by sending a special vibration to that region of brain. In the human body, it is the pituitary gland that regulates the hormone secretions and this function has to be awakened. For this, it is necessary to activate the neighbouring pineal body thereby increasing the secretion of necessary hormones –  melatonin and serotonin; especially the serotonin as is said to be closely related to the evolution of species and has the capacity to increase the intelligence of the right brain.

Since the midbrain is responsible for communication with the left and right hemispheres of the brain, the process of “activating” the midbrain will result in better communication with the left and right hemispheres.

As individuals grow older, the brain has the tendency to automatically assign to one hemisphere; which becomes more dominant in performing certain task. This process is called lateralisation. This means we end up using much less of our brain that we actually could! The process of “activating” the midbrain reverses this trend and allows us to use our brain more efficiently, hence the improvement in cognitive abilities.

How do we activate midbrain at YOLO workshops?

The midbrain activation workshops conducted by us are approx of 28 to 30 hrs spread over two continuous full days (8 hrs each) and consecutive 2-3 follow up sessions of minimum 3-4 hours each.

Our format is very creative and well designed; put together after a lot of thought, consultation & effort.

It is a series of fun games, dances, brain quizzes, brain gym exercises, brief meditation rounds, music therapy and the most favourite activity of children – sleep sessions; at appropriate time during the day. These naps are of around 45 minutes each. Parents are advised to send children’s own pillows and comfortable sheet covers for their children, to lie down and sleep.

It is like a holiday for children as we try to make them as stress free as possible for best results simultaneously pushing the thresholds of their creative, emotional, physical, visual, auditory, kinesthetic, olfactory sides to the optimal levels.

Amazingly at end of workshop almost all children get mid brain activated.

We verify it by blindfolding each child and in most smooth, effortless & fun ways suggest them to identify colors, read text, do telepathy, draw, paint; which they effectively do.Blindfolded activity is just an indicator that their other senses and vibrational energy has reached its peak that without seeing they can do it all; but real results are seen in the short and long term by their teachers, parents, family members. It is simply a Miracle. And we delight in this miracle as our team feels such huge satisfaction end of the day. Bingo !!

What are the benefits of Mid Brain Activation?

Since the midbrain is responsible for communication with the left and right hemispheres of the brain, the process of “activating” the midbrain will result in better communication with the left and right hemispheres.
Once the Mid Brain is activated the following neurological changes occurs:

L/R BRAIN gets balanced that helps use more power of your brain effectively and efficiently.
Five Senses becomes super powerful.

As a result child gets following benefits:

  • Super powerful memory
  • Enhanced concentration
  • Increased Focus
  • Strong decision making
  • Absorption capabilities
  • Emotional Stability
  • Develops intuitive power
  • Self confidence
  • Creativity & Imagination
  • Improved Reading/Writing speed (WPM)

What age group?

Mid Brain is active till the age of 5 years and subsequently it gets inactive and remains inactive till the age of 15 years and then starts getting calcified and becomes deactivated. Midbrain should be activated for the children between the age group of 5 to 15 years.

Is it once for a lifetime?

Yes Midbrain once activated stays for a lifetime.

What are the practices to keep it active & agile?

We provide few easy lifestyle changes to adopt and practice.

Is it a skill developed or a permanent neurological change in the brain?

It is a permanent neurological change in the brain that stays for lifetime. several skills can be developed with increased intelligence and awakened midbrain.
